U.S. ARMY 10TH AVIATION REGIMENT UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Enlisted personnel wear the insignia centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the DUI by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.

The 10th Aviation Regiment Distinctive Unit Insignia was first approved on 15 August 1966 for the 10th Aviation Battalion, but was redesignated with revised symbolism on 17 November 1987 for the 10th Aviation Regiment. Ultramarine blue and golden orange are the branch colors of Arm Aviation, with ultramarine used for the annulet and golden orange for the wings, banner, bolt tip and feathers, and annulet border. The wings indicate the function of Aviation.

A vertically oriented crossbow bolt represents the military personnel the unit transports, and the annulet behind it is a symbol of the unit's faithfulness to that duty. The bolt and annulet simulate the numbers 1 and 0 to display the numerical designation of the unit. “Soldiers Of The Sky” is the unit motto.

Constituted on 21 August 1965 in the Regular Army as Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 10th Aviation Battalion, today's 10th Aviation Regiment would not receive regimental designation until 1988 and its reorganization and redesignation from a Battalion to a parent regiment in the United States Army Regimental System.

During the Vietnam War, the Regiment took part in an astounding 15 named campaigns, with its exceptional service recognized with two Valorous Unit Awards, two Meritorious Unit Commendations, and six Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry (five with Palm, one with gold star). The Regiment's contributions in the War on Terrorism have been equally impressive, earning the unit ten Meritorious Unit Commendations in as many years between 2003-2004 and 2013-2014 and receiving credit for participation in at least two campaigns each in Afghanistan and Iraq.

As of Summer 2023, the Regiment's three Battalion's are all assigned to the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade and are based at Fort Drum, New York.
