U.S. ARMY 105TH ENGINEER GROUP UNIT CREST (DUI)

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

Enlisted personnel wear the insignia centered on a shoulder loop by placing it an equal distance from the outside shoulder seam to the outside edge of the shoulder-loop button. Officers (except Generals) wearing grade insignia on the shoulder loops center the DUI by placing it an equal distance between the inside edge of the grade insignia and the outside edge of the button.

Full guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1,
Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.

The 105th Engineer Group Distinctive Unit Insignia was originally approved for the 230th Supply and Transportation Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia on 12 May 1967. It was subsequently redesignated for the 230th Support Battalion on 20 February 1974 before being given its current designation for the 105th Engineer Group on 6 October 1982.

The insignia consists of a shield with a blue and white field with a scroll (also in blue and white) wrapped around the perimeter of the lower half of the shield. The blue and white field with three gold fleurs-de-lis in chief (top area of the shield) is an adaptation of the coat of arms of the city of Mortain and is used as an allusion to the unit being awarded a Distinguished Unit Citation and the French Crolix de Guerre for action against the Germans there during World War II.

Below the fleurs-de-lis are battlements that signify the number of campaign credits the unit earned during both World Wars, while the red lion rampant denotes the Belgian Fourragere the unit received for its service in Belgium and the Ardennes. SEMPITERNAL SUPPORT, the unit motto, means unchanging and everlasting support.
