United States Air Force Honor Guard personnel assigned to Color Guards, Rifle Firing parties, or as Guidon Bearers are authorized to wear siliconed white gloves while serving as members of a Color Guard or a Firing Party. However, personnel serving in positions where siliconed gloves are required must also keep at least one pair of standard, non-siliconed gloves available in case they’re required to perform other duties such as pallbearer, usher, escort, etc. Both types of gloves are worn in the same way, with the manufacturer’s tag removed and the material on the open ended folded inside the glove up to the elastic band.

Siliconed gloves are not to be removed by members of Firing Parties even if the ceremony’s instructions call for it. On the other hand, Firing Party member do not wear silicone gloves in rainy weather because it might make the rifle grip slipper, and members of Color Guards authorized to wear siliconed gloves must remove them if they’re responsible for folding the flag. Guidon Bearers wear a siliconed glove only on the right hand.

Both standard and silicone white gloves are generally not authorized for wear with the Airman Battle Uniform (ABU) or any combination of Air Force Blues, but they are permitted to be worn with utility uniforms during Dignified Transfer ceremonies. They also may be worn with the ABU while training, but they must be removed as soon as the training session is completed.
