U.S. ARMY 555TH ENGINEER BRIGADE UNIT PATCH (SSI)

We offer two types of Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, often referred to as unit patches: Full-Color and ACU. Full-color Shoulder Sleeve Insignia were formerly worn on the Army Green Service uniform, which was phased out in 2015; we continue to carry these full-color insignia in response to high demand from veterans and collectors.

Our ACU (Army Combat Uniform) Shoulder Sleeve Insignia are designed for wear on the ACU and other utility uniforms with made with either the Operational Camouflage Pattern (OCP) or the Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP). Note: Uniforms made with UCP have a wear-out date of 30 September 2019, with mandatory possession of OCP uniforms mandated for 1 October 2019.

The 555th Engineer Brigade was originally constituted on 1 February 1943 as Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1103rd Engineer Combat Group and activated just over three weeks later at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. It was assigned to the First Army when it arrived in France in mid-June 1944, but was subsequently reassigned to the Third Army. The Group earned credit for participation in five campaigns in the European Theater before its inactivation in May 1946.

During the Cold War, the unit received its current numerical designation, first as an Engineer Combat Group and then as an Engineer Group, and provided Engineer support for 7th Army. After a 22-year stint in Germany, the unit was inactivated in 1969 and would not be activated until 1992. It would not receive is current designation as a Brigade until 2007, by which time it had earned two Meritorious Unit Commendations, one for duty in Southwest Asia in 2003 and another for support of  Operation Iraqi Support during 2005 to 2006. It would go on to earn two more MUCs (Iraq 2008-2009, Afghanistan 2013).

The 555th Engineer Brigade is under the command of the 7th Infantry Division and is based at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
