U.S. ARMY 428TH FIELD ARTILLERY BRIGADE PATCH (SSI)

Originally constituted as a Field Artillery Group and activated at Fort Leonard Wood on 25 August 1944, the 428th Field Artillery Brigade underwent numerous redesignations, activations/inactivations, and relocations before it was transferred to United States Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) in August 2006 and activated at Fort Sill in Oklahoma in December of that same year. TRADOC was established in 1973 to oversee and develop Army forces training and the development of doctrine for operations.

In addition to its Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, the 428th currently consists of three Battalions. 1st Battalion, 30th Field Artillery Regiment is responsible for officer training and Professional Military Education (PME) courses. The 2nd Battalion, which has the 2nd Field Artillery as its parent regiment, handles artillery fire and logistics support during training exercises; it was transferred to TRADOC in 199. The 1st Battalion, 78th Field Artillery Regiment is responsible for Soldier training (AIT, or Advanced Individual Training. For both enlisted Soldiers, Officers, and Warrant Officers, the 428th Field Artillery Brigade provides their first in-depth experience with the tools of their trade, and will be “First and Always” as they continue to developer their skills and advance in their careers, fulfilling the unit motto to "Support," "Reinforce," and "Defend."

The wheel on the 428th Field Artillery Brigade unit patch, or Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, reflects the mobile nature of Field Artillery. Customers picking up the unit patch might also want to add the 428th Field Artillery Brigade unit crest, or Distinctive Unit Insignia, to the shopping cart.
