U.S. ARMY 415TH MILITARY INTELLIGENCE BATTALION UNIT CREST (DUI)

The 415th Military Intelligence Battalion Distinctive Unit Insignia was approved on 5 February 1991. Its shield has a background of oriental blue, the branch color of the Military Intelligence Corps, with a black fess (horizontal band) containing the image of a tiger that represents preparedness, strength, and military power. Behind the fess is a fleur-de-lis to symbolize the organization’s home state of Louisiana. A key on the fleur-de-li evokes the image of unlocking information; its red color is for courage and vitality in doing so. “Passe Partout,” the unit motto, is French for “Pass Into Everywhere” or “Pass Through Everywhere” (if the original language words are hyphenated it becomes “Master Key.”

Also known as a unit crest or DUI, a Distinctive Unit Insignia is worn by all Soldiers (except General Officers) in units that have been authorized to be issued the device. It is worn centered on the shoulder loops of the Army Green Service
Uniform (AGSU) and the blue Army Service Uniform (ASU, Enlisted only) with the base of the insignia toward the outside shoulder seam. DUIs are not worn on the Dress variations of either uniform, however.

More guidance on wear of the DUI is found in DA Pamphlet 670-1, Section 21-22, "Distinctive unit insignia" and 21–3(d) and (e), "Beret" and "Garrison Cap," respectively.
