U.S. ARMY 30TH ARMOR BRIGADE PATCH (SSI)

This Shoulder Sleeve Insignia was worn by the 30th Armored Brigade, Tennessee Army National Guard from 1973, the year the Brigade was formed through the consolidation of the 2nd and 3rd Brigades of the 30th Armored Division, until its inactivation in September 1996. This unit is not to be confused with the 30th Armored Brigade Combat Team, North Carolina Army National Guard, which inherited the lineage and unit patch of the 30th Infantry Division.

Yellow and green, the colors used for the middle stripe and the disc in the center, are colors associated with Armor units, while blue is for Infantry and red is for Artillery. The disc recalls the shape of a buckler or target, denoting strength and precision, while the placement of the three stars inside the disc is similar to the design of the Tennessee state flag, where they represent the three geographical “Grand Divisions” of the State (East, Middle, and West). The gold annulet suggests mobility and speed.
