The 1104th Signal Brigade Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, or unit patch, was approved on 6 November 1989, approximately the time the unit was organized on Okinawa in Japan. In 1990, the Brigade was given command of the 1141st Signal Battalion (previously designated as Signal Activity North under U.S. Army Information Systems Command, Japan) and the 1140th Signal Battalion. The Brigade was inactivated on 20 September 1991, with command of the two Signal battalions being handed over to 1106th Signal Brigade in Hawaii.
Four diagonally oriented lightning flashes dominate the insignia and represent both the equipment and process of modern electronic communications; their convergence in the center of the insignia reflects accuracy and pinpoint response. Their interior borders also form two blue vertical arrows that allude to the reception and processing of communications and information; blue also represents the Pacific and the unit’s location in the Far East. In the upper half of the insignia, a globe with gridlines reflects the worldwide reach of the Brigade’s mission and capabilities; a snow-capped mountain in the lower half is Mount Fuji, denoting the unit’s location in Japan.
