Tracking incorrectly shows "Attempted Delivery"

The United States Postal Services (USPS) works as a partner with your country's flag carrier. All international shipments that leave the United States are handed over to that partner and are no longer managed by USPS.

On certain shipping methods, such as International Express, the partner carrier has to deliver the package within a certain timeframe, to meet the partnership obligations.

However, we have found that many times, the customs office holds a package for review, and because this will no longer meet the delivery timeline, a tracking record with "Attempted Delivery" or "Attempted Delivery / Notice Left" is inserted to the package tracking.

In a way, it "releases" the partner carrier for delivery obligation (since it allegedely attempted to deliver), while at the same time give both the customs and the carrier plenty of time to handle the package at their own convenience.

Normally, if a carrier attempts to deliver and leave a notice, a second and final third attempt are made. In those cases of "fake" notices left, only one attempted delivery will be shown in the tracking history and then no movement for few days.

Our experience shows that customers in the United Kingdom are the most to have encountered those events.
